NDP came second here last general election. They did better than expected. Copps has lost the flare of the ratpack days and even the flare of dodging GST questions. Even with her reputation in the riding, people will soon be looking at who will be their MP when she leaves the stage (she seems to be fading a little now already from the news - except on the Magazine industry issue). If the NDP get Wayne Marston or an even better known candidate - they will take this seat. |

Sheila will win this one. hands down. Her term as Heritage minister has been quiet. There still is nobody who owns Hamilton like a copps... |

Too much tequila? Actually, Sheila's seemed more serene and in her own skin as humble cultural czarina than as Deputy (and wannabe) PM. The NDP did "better than expected" in the '96 byelection, true, but Marston lost ground in '97 and, given the figures from the last prov election, don't be surprised if CA passes NDP for second this time around... |
