I no longer live in Nickel Belt, but having grown up there I know the riding like the back of my hand. It's a largely rural, working class riding with a large French population, so even if there was only one right-wing party, it still wouldn't have a chance in hell. Traditionally leans to the NDP, but that's never been a foregone conclusion. Ray Bonin, in truth, is a moron, but even the highly popular longtime provincial MPP Elie Martel couldn't put this seat back in the orange column in 1997. If any party can grab Nickel Belt from the Grits, it's the NDP, but I'm not holding my breath. |

Although I predict Liberal. I believe that the NDP will give incumbent a run for his money as in 1997. My personal choice would be for PC as they are the only party of honesty and integrity in this upcoming election. I will be voting PC. I believe that favorites only matter in horse races although we have a lot more to lose in this race. A choice between the free spending, opportunistic Liberals who gave us the National Debt during both this and past Liberal governments, and who can not keep an election promise if they tried, OR the extreme right CRAPees who flip-flop on every policy as soon as they realize there is no photo-op in it, OR the NDP who couldn't form a government if given the opportunity. Heaven help Canada if that was the only choices we have. Thankfully we do have a voice of reason and sanity. Win or lose I vote PC this time. |

Geez Louise, these boring Ontarians. They rubberstamped a nonentity like Bonin back to Commons even when the NDP fielded a sure bet like Elie Martel. Well, better luck in 2000, NDP. We're *counting* on it... |
